Framing: To Frame or Not to Frame?
Let's talk framing. Should you buy your print framed or go DIY?
Framed Prints - Effortless & Ready to Hang
- No extra work needed. Your print arrives framed, beautifully finished, and ready to go straight on the wall.
- Choose from high-quality frame options to match your style.
- Professionally assembled, so you get a gallery-worthy piece.
Unframed Prints - Flexible and Customisable
- Perfect if you want to get it custom framed for your taste.
- Rolled and delivered in a protective tube to keep it pristine.
Either way, the materials are the best quality and are designed to last.
Hanging: The Right Way to Do It
Now for the fun part - getting it on the wall.
Find the right location for the frame
- Centre large prints above furniture like a bed or your couch.
- Leave enough wall space around the frame so it doesn't feel cramped. There should be a nice balance of wall-to-frame ratio.
- Don't hang it too high. I find that just about eye level when standing works best.
Use the right tools
- Use picture hooks or wall anchors, especially if you're mounting on drywall.
- For lightweight prints: Command strips can work well with no marking or drilling required. (great for those that rent)
Measure twice, Hang once
- A great tip when it comes to hanging prints is to take two post-it notes and measure out the width of the frame (See size guide). You can get an idea of how wide the frame will be and where it will sit in proportion to the surrounding space.
- Mark out the center distance from either post it note.
- Estimate where the string will sit, and mark it out then place the hook or anchor there.
Make sure the print is level with a square and presto, all done!
